Patricia George Gibbs, lovingly known as “Mammy,” age 85, of Adamsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Pauline George and John George, Patricia lived a life filled with devotion, laughter, and resilience. She was a woman whose presence brought warmth and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Mammy was a devoted wife to her late husband, Bobby Glen Gibbs Sr., and a loving mother to her children. She was known for her feisty spirit, quick wit, and remarkable sense of humor. Patricia never hesitated to speak her mind, and her honesty and strength endeared her to family and friends alike. Her ability to make others laugh, even in difficult times, was one of her greatest gifts.
Her role as “Mammy” was the heart of her identity. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating countless treasured memories filled with laughter, stories, and unconditional love. Whether she was sharing wisdom, teasing with her trademark humor, or simply enjoying time with her family, Patricia’s presence was a source of comfort and joy. Her family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Glen Gibbs Sr.; her son, Bobby Glen Gibbs Jr.; her parents, Pauline and John George; her sister Ruth George Woods, who was like a mother to her; her sisters Christine, Mary, Ann; and her brother Charles. She also joins many of her Gibbs brothers and sisters who passed before her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Chris) Milford of Adamsville, Tennessee; her granddaughters, Kellie Battles of Savannah, Tennessee, and Kristina Berry (Scott) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her great-grandsons, Casen Battles and Collin Battles; and her sister/niece, Paulette Stepp (Mark) of Walland, Tennessee. Patricia also leaves behind her Gibbs sisters-in-law Kay, Lois, Martha Ray, Becky, Diana, and Josie, along with many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Mammy’s vibrant personality could light up any room. Whether she was sharing a funny story, standing her ground with determination, or simply offering her love, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Though she will be deeply missed, Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, humor, and devotion to family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
