Maxine C. Huebner, 76, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by love and care, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and quiet strength. Born Maxine Brose on December 27, 1949, she spent her entire life in the Wausau area, where she built deep roots and meaningful connections. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Highland Community Church in Wausau, with visitation beginning one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park.
Maxine grew up in Wausau, the daughter of James and Susan (Hooker) Brose. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1968, where she was an active and loyal member of Job’s Daughters, forming friendships and values that stayed with her throughout her life.
She later worked for many years in the Housekeeping Department at Wausau Hospital, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and dedication. On October 9, 1976, she married Charles Huebner at the former Calvary Baptist Church in Schofield, beginning a marriage built on love, partnership, and shared commitment to family.
Maxine had a deep love for nature and animals, finding peace and joy in the world around her. She enjoyed helping plan her high school class reunions, taking pride in maintaining connections with old friends. But above all, Maxine’s greatest devotion was to her daughters, Ruth and Joy, whom she lovingly cared for throughout their lives. She was deeply involved in their activities, always present, always supportive, and endlessly proud of the women they became. Her love for them was the heart of her life.
Family meant everything to Maxine, and she cherished time spent with her sisters, extended family, and the many nieces and nephews who brought joy to her days. Her gentle spirit, warm presence, and unwavering loyalty made her someone others naturally turned to. Whether sharing a quiet moment, offering a listening ear, or simply being present, Maxine had a way of making those around her feel valued and loved.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Joy Huebner and Ruth Huebner, both of Wausau; her sisters, Evelyn Johnston of Jackson, WI, and Jamie (Robert) Fink of Cleveland, WI; her brother‑in‑law, Richard (Joni Spies) Huebner of Columbia Heights, MN; her sister‑in‑law, Kathleen Huebner of Wausau; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her sister, Nancy Gast; and her brother‑in‑law, William Johnston.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to Aspirus Hospice House and to her lifelong friend, Ann Waraksa, for the compassion and care they provided. Maxine will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle nature, and the devotion she showed to those she held dear.
