Jude Dominic Charging Crow, Sr., 65, of Arapahoe, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Lander, Wyoming, leaving his family and community in deep mourning. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
A Vigil service with a Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at St. Stephen’s Eagle Hall, with an all‑night wake to follow. The Young Sky Nation Drum Group will accompany the services, honoring Jude’s life and the cultural traditions he held close.
Born on January 1, 1961, in Riverton, Wyoming, Jude was the son of Alfred Spoonhunter, Sr. and Aurilda Addison Spoonhunter. He was given his Indian name, Boh’ Hiinoono’et, meaning “Thunder Cloud,” a name that reflected both his strength and his spirit. Jude was proud of his Northern Arapaho heritage and carried his culture with him throughout his life. He attended St. Stephen’s Indian High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and remained grounded in the values of his upbringing—faith, family, and community.
On October 7, 1981, Jude married Elsie Shakespeare in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Together, they built a life centered on love, tradition, and family. Jude was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy came from caring for his loved ones. He especially loved cooking for his family, gathering everyone together, and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His home was a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, reflecting the heart he poured into every relationship.
Jude worked tirelessly throughout his life, providing for his family through various roles, including as a mechanic and through his work with the Arapaho Ranch, Ditton Roofing, Inc., and the Wind River Casino. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether fixing a vehicle, lending a hand, or offering quiet support, Jude lived his life with humility and generosity. His reliability and kindness earned him the respect of coworkers, friends, and community members alike.
Jude is survived by his wife, Elsie Charging Crow; his daughter, Shawna Charging Crow, and Shawna’s children, Kiara Fighting Bear, Leland Fighting Bear, Ethan Fighting Bear, Jr., and Thaddeous Fighting Bear; his sons, Jude Charging Crow, Jr. and Stanley Shakespeare; his daughters, Sharon, Ramona, and Lemea; and his many grandchildren, including Emma Charging Crow, Janae Charging Crow, Jade Charging Crow, Jude Charging Crow III, Johnny Charging Crow, Anthony Monroe, Ronnie Monroe, Elarrah Bianas, Darren Shakespeare, Rieco Shakespeare, Serenity Shakespeare, Rocky, and Jo Mike.
He is also survived by great‑grandchildren Jalen Rian, Laxavion, MJ, Eclipse, and Zaiyden; his brothers, Mathew C. Crow, Terry Spoonhunter, Marlin Spoonhunter, Theron Spoonhunter, Harvey Spoonhunter, Ray Spoonhunter, Ryan Spoonhunter, James Gardner, Sr., John Bushyhead, Jr., and Tom Bushyhead; and his sisters, Alrita Talks Different (Alvin), Tillie Jenkins, and Lorenda Hanway. He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings and relatives; his daughter, Alfreda Monroe; grandchildren Rikki Shakespeare, Adam Fighting Bear, and Angel Bianas; and Ronnie Monroe Sr. Jude’s legacy of love, strength, and cultural pride will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
