It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacob Wauyo, a beloved resident of Takoma Park, Maryland. In the early hours of February 25, 2026, Jacob passed away peacefully after bravely battling stage IV prostate cancer since January 2025. His strength, resilience, and unwavering faith throughout his illness were a source of inspiration to his family and friends, who now mourn the loss of a man whose kindness and dedication touched many lives.
Jacob was a devoted husband to his wife, Laura, and a loving father to their four children—Reuben, Lori, Zach, and David. His family was the center of his world, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. His role as a father and husband was marked by compassion and commitment, and his legacy will live on through the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Beyond his immediate family, Jacob was admired by many for his generosity and gentle spirit. Friends and colleagues remember him as someone who always extended a helping hand, shared words of encouragement, and lived with integrity. His presence brought comfort and stability to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt across the Takoma Park community.
As the Wauyo family navigates this difficult time, they are seeking support to cover funeral expenses and to honor Jacob’s final wish—to be memorialized next to his mother in Uganda. This wish reflects his deep connection to his roots and his enduring love for family. Any assistance offered, whether through donations, prayers, or words of comfort, is greatly appreciated and will help ensure Jacob’s memory is honored with dignity and respect.
Though Jacob is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who loved him. His courage in the face of illness, his devotion to family, and his compassion for others will remain a lasting legacy. As Takoma Park mourns the loss of one of its own, the community also celebrates the remarkable life of Jacob Wauyo—a man whose love and strength will never be forgotten.
