The community of Carthage, Tennessee, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Chelsea Elizabeth Pirtle, age 24, who departed this life on Monday, April 20, 2026. Her passing has brought profound sorrow to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit. Born on October 3, 2001, in Carthage, Chelsea grew into a young woman known for her kindness, warmth, and the meaningful connections she formed with those around her.
Chelsea was the beloved daughter of Wesley David Pirtle and Tara Lynn Runnells Pirtle, who cherished her deeply from the moment she entered their lives. From a young age, she carried a quiet grace and a compassionate heart, qualities that shaped her relationships and endeared her to many. She was a member of South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith, presence, and sincerity were valued by her church family. Chelsea’s life reflected the values she held close—love, loyalty, and a genuine care for others.
She is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Flora “Flo” Mabery Runnells and Ginger Duchow Pirtle, whose influence and memory remained close to her heart. Their love helped shape the woman Chelsea became, and the bond she shared with them continues to be a cherished part of her story. Those who knew Chelsea speak of her as someone who carried her family’s legacy with pride, tenderness, and quiet strength.
Chelsea leaves behind a family who loved her beyond measure. She is survived by her devoted parents, Wesley and Tara Pirtle of Carthage; her siblings, Lexie Wade of Carthage and Ethan Pirtle of Lafayette; and her significant other, Jessie Sevier of Carthage, who shared a meaningful and loving connection with her.
She is also survived by her grandfathers, David Runnells of Carthage and Wayne Pirtle of Nashville, along with extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close. Each of them carries a piece of her life within their hearts—moments, conversations, and memories that now feel even more precious.
Chelsea’s life will be honored with funeral services on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes, with Eld. David Silcox officiating. Interment will follow at Smith County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held the same day from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
