The Wausau community is mourning the peaceful passing of Roger E. Poblitz, who died on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the age of 80 at Aspirus Hospice House, surrounded by his family. His departure marks the end of a life defined by devotion to family, hard work, and simple joys that brought meaning and connection to those around him.
Born on August 31, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, Roger was the beloved son of Earl and Adelaide (Smith) Poblitz. He graduated from Ripon High School and later married Sharon Buchholz on September 11, 1965. In 1971, they moved to Wausau, where they built a life together and raised their family. Roger’s marriage to Sharon was a partnership of love and commitment, lasting until her passing, and their bond remains a cherished part of his story.
Roger dedicated more than 40 years of service to the United States Postal Service, where he was admired for his reliability, work ethic, and steady presence. Beyond his career, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—attending fairs and festivals with family and friends, fishing with his grandson, and sharing his love of music. These passions reflected his appreciation for community, family, and the beauty of everyday moments.
His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. Roger took pride in being present for their lives, whether cheering at activities, sharing quiet moments, or simply offering his love and encouragement. His devotion to his daughters, Michelle and Melanie, and his grandchildren, Evan, Chloe, and Erik, was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Though his journey has come to an end, Roger E. Poblitz leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, and extended family, and preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, and his parents. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau, with burial to follow on Friday, May 15. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the enduring love and memories he leaves behind.
