Roger Joseph “Boomer” Bertram, age 68, of **Schofield, Wisconsin**, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 6, 2026. Born on January 21, 1958, in Fond du Lac to **Alfonse and Juliana (Wettstein) Bertram**, Roger grew into a man known for his warmth, humor, and unmistakable presence. On June 20, 1987, he married **Carla Skrzypchak** at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weston, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and two cherished children, Jacklyn and Vincent.
Roger’s career began behind the microphone as a radio DJ and local sports announcer, where his voice and personality quickly became familiar to many. He later transitioned into sales for television and radio, forging strong relationships throughout the community. His deep Catholic faith guided him throughout his life, and he was an active member of St. Therese Church, where he volunteered generously during weekly Mass and parish events. His commitment to service and his joyful spirit made him a beloved presence within the church family.
A true outdoorsman, Roger found joy in hunting and fishing—especially opening weekend traditions and salmon trips on Lake Michigan. He loved camping with his family across Wisconsin, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. A loyal Wisconsin sports fan, he rarely missed cheering on the Green Bay Packers or listening to Brewers games on the radio. In recent years, he and Carla enjoyed traveling the country, visiting loved ones, and embracing new adventures together.
Roger’s love extended to his four‑legged companions as well. His yellow lab, **Elle**, and the family’s golden retriever, **Ruby**, held a special place in his heart and were constant sources of comfort and companionship. Above all, Roger will be remembered for his larger‑than‑life personality—his gift for storytelling, his infectious laughter, and his ability to make every gathering brighter simply by being there.
He is survived by his loving wife, **Carla**; his children, **Jacklyn (Peter) Van Nortwick** and **Vince (Amy) Bertram**; and his grandsons, **Jack and Benjamin Bertram**. He is also survived by his sister, **Kathy (Joe) Schumacher**; his twin sister, **Ruth (Eric) Schumacher**; his mother‑in‑law, **Donna Skrzypchak**; sisters‑in‑law **Sue Bertram** and **Candice Koch‑Wetzel**; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, **Norm and John Bertram**; his father‑in‑law, **David Skrzypchak**; and his brother‑in‑law, **Todd Koch**.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at **11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026**, at **St. Therese Catholic Church** in Rothschild, with Rev. Janusz Kowalski presiding. Visitation will be held on **Thursday, April 23, from 4:00–7:00 p.m.** at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, and again on Friday from **9:30 a.m. until the time of service** at the church.
